Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera

The duo behind cartoon creations like Scooby Doo Where Are You!, The Jetsons, and The Flintstones solidified their partnership in 1937. Meeting in the animation division at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, William Hanna and Joe Barbera achieved great success as partners even before creating their own animation company, H-B Enterprises. It wasn’t until 1959 that the company would become the Hanna-Barbera Studios the world knows them as. Now, more than 60 years later their cartoons are still aired to millions of children around the world, and have inspired numerous adaptations. With RR Auction’s wide network of animation collectors, Hanna-Barbera pieces have done well for our consignors – especially from their most famous works.

While The Flintstones and The Jetsons are their most well-known shows, RR still offers gems from their other productions. Take, for instance, these production drawings from their first hit show, Tom and Jerry. When developing the series, Hanna supervised the animation while Barbera handled writing the stories for each episode. These drawings originate from the 1948 animated short Mouse Cleaning. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera personally signed these production drawings, making these fantastic animation pieces from the cartoon legends.
