Charles Schulz

Charles Schulz began drawing when he was just a young boy, a talent that would later culminate in his most influential creation – the Peanuts series. The Peanuts comic strip debuted in 1950, with Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and their gang of colorful characters appearing in more than 17,000 comic strips over a 50 year span. Schulz took much inspiration for the series from his own personal experiences, creating bite-sized stories that have touched the hearts of many. With the Peanuts’ popularity enduring well into the modern day, it’s no surprise collectors are on the look out for rare and original Schulz pieces for their collections.

In this comedic sketch, Schulz places a cutout of McCormick diving from the top of a tree into a bird bath as Snoopy fills it with a water hose while shouting, “Not yet! Not yet!” Schulz was a lover of sports as well as the arts, and McCormick’s inclusion in the sketch makes it truly one-of-a-kind. RR Auction sold this endearing and creative drawing sold for $6,145.
