From the Broadway stage to the Hollywood screen, Marlon Brando solidified his status as one of film’s greatest stars. His unforgettable performances in films like On the Waterfront and The Godfather earned him critical acclaim and two academy awards. His extensive resume and range of roles has our bidders looking to purchase items related to the acclaimed actor including photographs, autographs, and contracts. The value of Brando signed memorabilia is also enhanced by their elusiveness, as he had a well-known dislike of signing autographs.

More recently, RR Auction received news coverage from several sources about our sale of a break-up letter written by Marlon Brando to a French actress. Before Brando debuted his acting chops on the big screen, his career started on Broadway where he played Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1947. CNN reported that, “the rare letter was addressed to Solange Podell, Brando’s love interest when he was a budding Broadway star.” This lot ended up selling for a hefty $10,000.

This unique 14 karat yellow gold necklace and earring set was a gift from Brando to his first wife, fellow film actress Anna Kashfi. The necklace consists of three-dimensional gold sea shells, 30 rubies, and 15 sapphires while the earrings have a gold leaf design decorated with nine sapphires each. A display of love and elegance, this opulent piece of jewelry sold for $6,488.
