RR Auction enjoys a robust pool of buyers who are always searching for Elvis photographs, stage-worn clothing, and jewelry. The appeal of The King is undeniable, and our clients are happy to pay the best prices to add to their collections. Our bidders can’t help falling in love with these amazing pieces!
For example, memorabilia from Elvis’ time at Fort Hood was placed in our Music and Entertainment Icons auction in November 2015. Temple Daily Telegram News discussed what items were up for bidding including, “About 15 original photos of Presley at Fort Hood… as well as several letters from Presley’s girlfriend at the time, Anita Wood, to Sgt. William Norwood.” This rare letter Elvis wrote home while serving in Germany also exceeded previous estimates selling for $31,073. This letter documents Elvis’ well known love for his mother, and is a genuine snapshot into Elvis’ time in the military.
Our eager clients also enthusiastically bid for the first contract for Graceland, this incredible Elvis autographed portrait, and another oversized Elvis photo inscribed to Ed Sullivan. Jewelry from the late king of rock-and-roll also made its way through our doors in July 2018. “A bidder paid $12,251 for the top jewelry item, a 14k gold Baume & Mercier watch… that Elvis gave to his Las Vegas musical director Bobby Morris in the summer of 1969,” according to JCK. With selling prices like these, it’s clear the popularity of Elvis memorabilia will continue to increase.
We also sold a set of five original Elvis Presley negatives in our Fine Autographs and Artifacts auction in February 2023. These negatives were taken by Canadian journalist Jock Carroll for a 1956 Weekend Magazine article. Carroll was covering Elvis’ rise to fame in his early career, and four of these five photographs were published in that original 1956 magazine issue. The fifth negative was not published until June 2000 in an issue of B&W Magazine. The article was a retrospective look at Carroll’s photos of stars on the brink of fame. These negatives capture a smoldering and smiling Elvis on stage, signing autographs, and relaxing in a lounge chair.
